The Sony Ericsson Cyber-Shot C902 offers a 5-megapixel camera with a 2.5x digital zoom, bringing it in line with the Nokia N95 and N96, and Samsung's G800. The camera is obviously core to the C902, but the phone also has a unique new design. Pulling the phone apart above the screen, which reveals the camera behind, activates the camera. This isn't a pointless exercise in style (although it is very slick) - the camera lens is completely protected when not in use and there's no risk of accidentally pressing the camera-specific buttons.

The C902 includes Face Detection technology and auto-focus technology. For those looking for the same 'push to focus' feature of the G900, which allows the user to touch the screen to set a photo's main focal point, this handset doesn't have it.

With such a focus on picture technology, it's no wonder SE have included so much memory in the Cyber-Shot C902. There's 160MB of built-in storage; enough to store 100 full resolution pictures. If this isn't enough, there's also space for a Memory Stick Micro (M2).

Can The Sony Ericsson Cyber-Shot C902 Make an Impact?

Enough about the camera; what's the rest of the handset like? There's a music player, SE's blogging tool that allows you to upload images to a Blogger account and Track ID which tells you a song's detail by recording part of it. The C902 also has Bluetooth and HDSPA, but there's no Wi-Fi. The design of the C902 is good - it's easy on the eye and slim. It may be too large for some though.

In conclusion, the Sony Ericsson Cyber-shot C902 is the best of the current Cyber-shot lineup, and one of the best phones SE has made. The sliding lens cover is a real winner and the phone's camera takes excellent quality photos. The focus on design has really paid off- it's much less clunky than previous models.
